The first part shall guide the attendees through the basic process of becoming a registered employer in Malta and ensuring payroll compliance.

The second part will cover recent amendments to the law affecting payroll in Malta, including new paternity and parental leave entitlements, sector-specific rules on overtime and leave under Wage Regulation Orders, and the impact of transparency regulations requiring clearer breakdowns of pay and working conditions. We shall explore how these developments affect both employers and employees in practice.

Seminar Description

The first part shall guide the attendees through the basic process of becoming a registered employer in Malta and ensuring payroll compliance, namely covering:

  • Step-by-step registration with the Commissioner for Revenue (CFR) and obtaining PE numbers for companies and self-employed individuals;
  • Registering a company as an employer with Jobsplus, including how to submit engagement forms online, and report employment changes or terminations;
  • Payroll Compliance: Understanding payslip legislation, tax rates, social security contributions, and documentation required for new employees;
  • Understanding Basic Payroll Calculation: Practical examples to illustrate taxation and social security calculation; and
  • Understanding the Final Settlement System (FSS) FS3, FS4, FS5, FS7, and common annual FSS filing errors.
